Strong partners support Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer with charging solution

Doing good together: Chargemaker GmbH, a joint venture of Mainova AG and the Dussmann Group, installed a charging solution for the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer together with Dussmann Mobility Services and the gardening and landscaping company Green World. A charging station with a total of 22 kilowatts of power was built in the car park in front of the foundation’s research building. In future, electric cars can be charged there at two charging points, for example during a visit. The Foundation also uses the facility for its own electric car.

All project participants of this unique measure supported the foundation free of charge. Chargemaker participated with the charging station including accessories and corresponding charging services. The cable installation, technical assembly and commissioning were carried out by the specialist Dussmann Mobility Services. Green World, a gardening and landscaping company based in Frankfurt, provided the civil engineering.

Dr. Jürgen Vogt, Chairman of the Board and co-founder of the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer, said: “Since the foundation was established more than 25 years ago, we have pursued one goal: to continuously advance research in the field of childhood and adolescent cancer. In recent years, this has helped to reduce the mortality rate from childhood cancer. Of the more than 2,200 children and adolescents who develop cancer in Germany every year, 80% can now be cured. Of course, environmental awareness and sustainability also play an important role in our actions – the development of electric mobility is a logical building block for us. We would like to thank Mainova AG – the long-standing sponsors of our research work – as well as Chargemaker, Dussmann Mobility Services and Green World for their generous support in making this a reality.”

“Our parent company Mainova and the Foundation for Children with Cancer have a long-standing partnership. Therefore, in this particular case, it was natural for us to support the project with our partners from the region. We are pleased to be able to contribute to the valuable work of the foundation in this way,” emphasised Chargemaker Managing Director Björn Dethlefsen in connection with the charity action.

Oliver Bührer, Managing Director of Green World, said: “When, as here, a strong team works hand in hand, a lot can be achieved. We were happy to help implement the project with the partners.”

Muffin sale for a good cause

At 9 years old, Hanna is our youngest donor this year. She baked delicious muffins for her grandmother’s birthday party and distributed them in exchange for a donation. This resulted in a considerable donation, of which she handed over 250 euros to our foundation on 28 April.
It always touches us in a special way when children help children who are not doing well. A huge thank you to Hanna for her super idea and the valuable support of our research work for the benefit of children and young people with cancer.
After an exciting tour of our research house with Dr Florian Rothweiler, Hanna presented the donation cheque with justifiable pride. We were very happy about the visit.

Thanks to FRASPA and the Jobski Foundation

The Lydia and Herwart Jobski Foundation (with 11,376.70 euros) and the Frankfurter Sparkasse (with 10,000 euros) are supporting the funding of a research project to characterise chemotherapy resistance in children and young people with cancer. The project, led by Dr. Jens-Uwe Vogel, is investigating how infection with the human cytomegalovirus (a herpes virus) alters the effectiveness of cancer therapeutics. The knowledge gained contributes to improving therapies for childhood and adolescent cancers or to developing new therapeutic options.
During a visit to our Foundation, the donors were informed about the latest results from this important research project.
We would like to thank the Frankfurter Sparkasse for its long-standing support and the Lydia and Herwart Jobski Foundation, established in 2021, for its generous support of research and science.

Donation-Marathon of the Frankfurt Fools

The Frankfurter Karneval-Verein 1911 and its MaaGard and the 1st Nieder Carneval Club initiated a great fundraising campaign in December 2021: Under the motto “Frankfurter Vereine vereinen sich” (Frankfurt clubs unite), the two clubs called for a donation marathon. A proud 1,722.22 euros were collected. On 22 January 2022, the two chairmen Frank Himmelein and Peter Stoner presented the donation to our managing director Marcus Klüssendorf with a beautifully designed donation cheque in the “Nidda-Kampfbahn” restaurant.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who took part in this great campaign.

On a social mission

Research and development cost money. A medium-sized company like the East Westphalian drive manufacturer Marantec Antriebs- und Steuerungstechnik GmbH & Co. KG knows only too well. Normally, sales staff like Jürgen Stoller and Dirk Arnold, who are on the road for the company in the Rhine-Main area and southern Germany, sell innovative drive solutions. Now, in January 2022, they were on a different mission: the two sales area managers presented our foundation’s managing director, Marcus Klüssendorf, with a donation from the company in the amount of 1,600 euros.

The donation was made on the initiative of the two Marantec sales representatives, who used an internal employee competition to draw attention to the good cause. No matter which of the two came out on top: In the event, they wanted to forego their own prize money, especially since the success “was definitely a team effort, which was actively supported by the colleagues in the internal sales department”, Jürgen Stoller emphasises. Instead, he suggested that Marantec make a donation. This suggestion met with benevolent approval from the company.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to the two initiators and Marantec for this great commitment.

Visit from Secret Santa Vincent from Nied

On 30 December 2021, we had a visit from Secret Santa Vincent from Nied. He came accompanied by Mary Massieu and brought a Christmas present for the children and young people with cancer: 900 euros, which had been collected in the course of the year in the Nidda-Kampfbahn restaurant, were presented to us by the two of them.

A huge THANK YOU to all the people who contributed to this wonderful gift.

Donating instead of giving

A big THANK YOU goes to the two managing directors Frank Erasmi and Gilbert Giura from NEXA Spedition GmbH in Hattersheim, who spontaneously visited us in our Research House on 22 December 2021. As in previous years, they again waived Christmas presents to their customers in 2021 in favour of a donation to a charitable organisation.

“Social commitment is a matter of course for us – also in our private lives”. Since founding the company in 2016, Frank Erasmi and Gilbert Giura have already supported several local institutions. In 2021, the decision was made to donate to our Frankfurt foundation. We are delighted to receive 2000 euros for children’s cancer research.

8 years of helping children’s cancer research

We were delighted when Markus Bernsteiner from the company Arnold GmbH in Frankfurt came to visit the Research House again in 2021 – and brought a donation of 1,500 euros with him. For the eighth year in a row, Markus Bernsteiner did not miss the opportunity to give children’s cancer research a boost so that one day all children and young people with the disease can be cured. We sincerely thank him for his many years of important support.
