What research and prototyping have in common

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Sven Mattis, owner of the company WCP in Messel, for another valuable donation of 10,000 euros for children’s cancer research.
Sven Mattis sees a close connection between his field of activity and research. With this in mind, he has been supporting childhood cancer research at our company for many years.
“I support the important research work of the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer out of deepest conviction. Because, in my view, the two areas – research and prototype construction – have a lot in common: in both areas, extensive development and testing is required. Results sometimes only become apparent after a number of trials, successes can rarely be achieved immediately and, unfortunately, many things are only decided in the future.”
Seven years ago, Sven Mattis and the then managing director of the “Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer”, Rudolf Starck, met by chance at an event. During an intensive conversation, they also got to talk about the topic of children and health. As an affected father, Rudolf Starck described the problems in childhood cancer research during the course of the exchange. Sven Mattis immediately recognised the similarities to his field of activity and his interest was aroused.
During his visit to Frankfurt this year, Sven Mattis was intensively informed about the current state of research during a tour of our research house. He was impressed by the successes already achieved in connection with the SAMHAD1 enzyme in the treatment of leukaemia (more on this on our research page at https://kinderkrebsstiftung.formwandler.rocks/neue-erkenntnisse-zur-all-therapie/).
For the past 7 years, WCP GmbH has donated a considerable amount every year for the benefit of children and young people suffering from cancer; around 70,000 euros have been collected in the meantime

A beautiful donation in kind

After our logo relaunch in September 2021, some things need to be replaced. Alexander Werbetechnik in Otzberg-Lengfeld has given us two beautiful donation cheques and two building signs with our new logo. This donation in kind helps us to use the available funds for the actual research work.
A big thank you to Alexander Legrum and his team.

A donation in memory

On 28 July 2021, Mrs Edith Laber from Schaafheim came to Frankfurt together with her daughter and son-in-law to present us with a donation of 1,000 euros. This generous donation was made in the spirit of her husband Horst Laber, who passed away in May.

Three years ago, on the occasion of his 80th birthday, Horst Laber had asked for a donation for the children suffering from cancer instead of presents. A proud 1,200 Euros were collected at that time.

We would like to thank Mrs. Laber from the bottom of our hearts for this touching gesture to once again support the important research work at our centre in memory of her husband.

A matter of the heart

“No matter how bad the times may be, one must not disregard the important things in life”. With this conviction, Volker Bertaloth from Ober-Ramstadt presented a donation of 500 euros to our Managing Director Marcus Klüssendorf on 23 March 2021. It is a matter of the heart for Volker Bertaloth and his family to support the research work of the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer, even in the current stressful overall situation.
For this wonderful commitment we say a heartfelt THANK YOU!

Arnold GmbH shows loyalty

Since 2014, the Arnold GmbH company has been supporting the important research work of the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer. In previous years, we received a donation amount corresponding to the year in each case. This is not possible this year due to the current situation. However, from the point of view of Managing Director Markus Bernsteiner, a donation still had to be made. And so we were able to receive a magnificent 1,111 euros on 16.12.2020.

A heartfelt THANK YOU for this wonderful gesture and for many years of loyalty.

SINTRONICS GmbH donates

This year, the company SINTRONICS GmbH from Schöneck has once again made a great donation to us. With 3,000 Euros they support the important research work in the field of cancer in children and adolescents.

A big thank you for this great commitment.
Dr. Constanze Schneider received the award for her scientific work on “SAMHD1 is a biomarker for cytarabine response and a therapeutic target in acute myeloid leukemia”, which was published in the journal “Nature Medicine”.

Until now, in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) it was not possible to predict which patients would respond to standard chemotherapy with cytarabine. With SAMHD1, a new biomarker was discovered that can be used to identify patients who respond to chemotherapy with a high degree of accuracy.

Moose + Reindeer bring donation

On 6 December 2020, mulled wine, hot cider and organic juice, as well as lard bread and goose fat, were served at the Nidda-Kampfbahn restaurant for a good cause. The demand was so great that Mary Massieu, accompanied by a moose and reindeer, was able to bring us a proud 600 euros donation for our foundation.

We would like to thank all the people who supported this campaign. Another big thank you goes to the landlord Holger Hauke, who made this amount possible with his top-up, and to Mary Massieu, who always organises great fundraising events for us.

Donation from Meseth GmbH

We were delighted to welcome Nicole Pilsel and Marina Schloßnagel from the Frankfurt roofing company Hans Jürgen Meseth GmbH to our research house on 9 December 2020. Not only did they show great interest in the important research work at the Dr. Petra Joh-Haus, but they also had a donation of 2,500 euros in their luggage.
With this year’s Christmas fundraising campaign, Meseth GmbH wanted to support an organisation in Frankfurt that helps children and young people. They came across the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer on the internet and it was immediately clear: “That’s where our donation should go”.
We sincerely thank them for this great support.
