What research and prototyping have in common

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Sven Mattis, owner of the company WCP in Messel, for another valuable donation of 10,000 euros for children’s cancer research.
Sven Mattis sees a close connection between his field of activity and research. With this in mind, he has been supporting childhood cancer research at our company for many years.
“I support the important research work of the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer out of deepest conviction. Because, in my view, the two areas – research and prototype construction – have a lot in common: in both areas, extensive development and testing is required. Results sometimes only become apparent after a number of trials, successes can rarely be achieved immediately and, unfortunately, many things are only decided in the future.”
Seven years ago, Sven Mattis and the then managing director of the “Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer”, Rudolf Starck, met by chance at an event. During an intensive conversation, they also got to talk about the topic of children and health. As an affected father, Rudolf Starck described the problems in childhood cancer research during the course of the exchange. Sven Mattis immediately recognised the similarities to his field of activity and his interest was aroused.
During his visit to Frankfurt this year, Sven Mattis was intensively informed about the current state of research during a tour of our research house. He was impressed by the successes already achieved in connection with the SAMHAD1 enzyme in the treatment of leukaemia (more on this on our research page at https://kinderkrebsstiftung.formwandler.rocks/neue-erkenntnisse-zur-all-therapie/).
For the past 7 years, WCP GmbH has donated a considerable amount every year for the benefit of children and young people suffering from cancer; around 70,000 euros have been collected in the meantime

A beautiful donation in kind

After our logo relaunch in September 2021, some things need to be replaced. Alexander Werbetechnik in Otzberg-Lengfeld has given us two beautiful donation cheques and two building signs with our new logo. This donation in kind helps us to use the available funds for the actual research work.
A big thank you to Alexander Legrum and his team.

Pipettes for childhood cancer research

On 5 November 2021, Ursula and Joachim Ochs from Groß-Zimmern visited us for the second time in our Research House. The couple presented a donation in kind in the form of pipettes worth around 1,500 euros. These are regularly needed in our laboratories.

During their first visit to Frankfurt a few weeks earlier, the couple had informed themselves in detail about our work and the successes in childhood cancer research. Afterwards, their spontaneous reaction was: “We are happy to support this important work! And we hope for imitators.”

We sincerely thank Mr. and Mrs. Ochs for this important contribution in the fight against childhood cancer.

Laboratory Assistant (f/m/d)

The Interdisciplinary Laboratory (lead by Prof. Jindrich Cinatl; Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Canver) is interested in the underlying mechanism of chemoresistance, overcoming chemoresistance and developing new therapy strategies. To achieve this goal, a unique collection of resistant cancer cell lines (RCCL collection) was established over the last decades.

We are seeking applications for a laboratory assistant for the care and maintenance of the RCCL Collection. Experience in working with cell culture, cryopreservation of cell lines, viability assay, isolation of DNA and RNA and Western Blot are beneficial. We are looking for candidates who are highly self-motivated, dependable and organized team players. The position is a full-time employment, payment according to TV-G-U, starting directly and limited until 31st of December, 2023.

A donation in memory

On 28 July 2021, Mrs Edith Laber from Schaafheim came to Frankfurt together with her daughter and son-in-law to present us with a donation of 1,000 euros. This generous donation was made in the spirit of her husband Horst Laber, who passed away in May.

Three years ago, on the occasion of his 80th birthday, Horst Laber had asked for a donation for the children suffering from cancer instead of presents. A proud 1,200 Euros were collected at that time.

We would like to thank Mrs. Laber from the bottom of our hearts for this touching gesture to once again support the important research work at our centre in memory of her husband.
